Jack Kent’s book from 1975 presents a powerful illustration of problems and fears that we try to ignore. The more the family ignores the “elephant in the room” the bigger it grows. It prevents everyone from doing what they need to get done in daily life. The problem continues to escalate until the mom eventually has to admit that the dragon actually exists.
- Try using it in conjunction with another book, You’ve Got Dragons to expand the metaphor.
- Try having members draw their dragons to externalize their problems.
